(In the before I had already lost 100lbs)

I am so grateful you are considering taking this life changing journey with my studio. If you are anything like me, perhaps Yoga is the start to something great, perhaps you need to heal? To get stronger? More flexible? Healthier? Then come on in and lets begin or continue your practice.

Namaste!

Jessica Shares her story here:

Many years ago, I was in a very low point of my life. I had hit my all-time highest weight of over 400 lbs. I was a very dedicated alcoholic and fast food addict and on a fast track path to a very grim future. My wake up call was the night of graduating Medical Assisting School. Of course we were all going out to celebrate and that day my heart was acting weird, I ignored it and proceeded to head out for a night of celebration. As I kept drinking my hearts rhythm got worse. When I got home, I had to sleep sitting up I could barely get my heart to stop pounding through my chest. I fell asleep and when I awoke the next morning my heart was racing very quickly and its rhythm was all over the place. I was rushed to the hospital and the doctors said I was going into atrial fibrillation (the beginnings of a heart attack) I was terrified .They told me that due to the abuse on my body I was almost out of potassium and iron and that if I did not do something soon to help myself that things did not look promising.

I had to wear a heart monitor for a few months, and the same week of the incident I decided to join a gym. Nervous and now sober I had decided to go in and try my first work out. I figured I would start on the treadmill. After walking for 3 mins at a 2.1 pace I was so out of breath that I had to get off and sit down. My body was so sick. But then I saw the exercise bike and it had a fun peddle along game on it, I began there, little by little as I let go of my food addiction and my alcohol addiction, the weight started to fly off, I was able to walk on the treadmill for 15 mins before I knew it and the bike became easier .The first 100 lbs came off pretty easy and then that's when my body said now it’s time to work!

So I kept trying, I did not give up. I knew that I wanted to succeed and then I found Yoga. Man was it hard when I first started! But it lit the fire in my soul. I was heckled out of a few classes because of my weight. But I did not let that stop me. I went on to become a personal trainer first, but no one would hire me because I was still over weight. I then went on to become a Zumba instructor and again went to try outs for jobs and was told I was too fat to be a Zumba instructor! Then I started Yoga teacher training. It was awesome and the best experience of my life! It gave me confidence and the ability to keep changing myself and incorporate my Zen meditation practice with my physical practice. I then saw I could help other people find that same fire and that same passion and as I watched my students practices evolve, I knew that this is what I am meant to be doing. So I knew starting a studio in my way, was the only way. The spiritual authentic way. Where everyone is welcome, no matter who you are!

And here I am over 100's lbs lost. Running almost 3 miles a day, Teaching Yoga, Zumba and Fitness. Sick at 32 and ready to kick the worlds butt at 37. What you think you become. How you see your situation is really up to you. You can either let it consume you or you can consume it. And then keep going. Motivation is a fire from within, only you can light it! So strike your match and let’s get to the Source of it all together, shall we?!

*** Jessica completed her 200Hour Yoga teacher training in 2013 and has since gone on to take many classes and workshops to enhance her study. She is currently studying Ashtanga with Kino Macgregor a couple times a year. She has hosted a teacher training at the studio graduating nine women to continue on and teach Vinyasa yoga. Her second year hosting a Yoga Teacher Training program is set to begin in September 2015. She hopes to bring Ashtanga to the Cleveland area in a very authentic way. Vinyasa flow yoga will always be the heartbeat of her practice and the studio. But her spiritual path guides her into the sutras and living the yogic lifestyle.
